Snail Meaning and Messages

In general, Snail symbolism is letting you know that you need to slow down! In other words, this spirit animal is asking you; What’s the big hurry? In any event, you have been spending so much time focusing on goals that you have missed something.  Thus Snail meaning says it is time to let go for a moment so that you will be able to see it.

Alternatively, the Snail symbolism is letting you know that any pace is a good pace. In other words, what seems like forever is just a small moment. Consequently, it would help if you released your beliefs about not getting things done on time. Be sure to trust your process, stay present, and chug along. Moreover, the Snail meaning insists that there is no sense in causing yourself any more stress.

The Snail symbolism is also letting you know that you have to use your time wisely. However, you also have to realize that you do have time for everything. Thus, you should divide your priorities and set up a block of time each day to create steady progress in all of your projects.  The whole process is a simple exercise in time management. In other words, Snail symbolism reminds you to stay in the present so that everything gets done.

Relations

Birds are the Snail’s main predator. These avians include; Redwing Blackbirds, Robins, Jays, Crows, Magpies, Ravens, Hawks, and Owls. The closest relatives are Oysters, Clams, Mussels, Slugs, Sea Snails, freshwater Snails, Octopus, Squid, Nautilus, and Conches.

Snail Totem, Spirit Animal

People with Snail totem tend to be creatures of habit and have a great deal of patience. They also know how to take things as they come. More often than not, they prefer to be alone, are not very social, and sometimes very timid as well. They always have to balance protection with trust (not easy).  Often, Snail totem people never show their true selves to the world. Also, their feelings are generally at the forefront of most of their decisions and actions. Folks with the Snail totem also need to be careful about hiding in their shell. They need to make a point of dealing with their emotional issues, or they could withdraw permanently.

People with this spirit animal have a strong work ethic and will often put in much longer hours than everyone else. However, they do tend to work very slowly and meditatively. They do every task well. They maintain a high standard of excellence. Also, they tend to rely on themselves to get the job done.

Folks with this mollusk as their power animal are very deliberate people. Therefore, once they set a goal to achieve, there is no diverting them from their path.

Snail Dream Interpretation

In general, when you have a Snail dream, you feel vulnerable and slow with some aspect of your waking life. It could also be a message that you isolate yourself too much from the rest of the world. In other words, growth can only come about by exposing those parts of yourself that are vulnerable. Furthermore, when this happens, you can embrace the lessons offered by it.

Furthermore, a Snail dream can also symbolize the need for patience and perseverance. You are working on a project that seems to be taking forever to complete and reach its goal. In this case, the mollusk is letting you know that you can accomplish everything. Also, as a result, everything will arrive at the exact moment it is supposed to come.

If the mollusk in your Snail dream moves forward, it is symbolic of slow but steady progress in your waking life towards your goals. To see one of these creatures hiding in its shell is an indication that you are using an avoidance tactic on an unpleasant task. For some reason, there is something that you know you have to deal with that you are currently avoiding in your waking life.

Colors

A red Snail dream symbolizes that you have repressed anger and are, in essence doing a slow burn. It would be best if you found ways to release this anger soon, for your health. Dreaming of a white mollusk means that you are being guided slowly towards your life’s purpose.

When you dream of a black Snail, it indicates a time of inward growth without any clear direction. Thus it would help if you allowed this change within you the time and space to take root. In other words, have patience. Everything will clarify soon.

Snail Trails:

Seeing a Snail’s trail in your dreams is symbolic of spending too much time in your past. There is no sense in casting blame behind you. Let go and pay more attention to what is in the present. To see many Snail trails in your dreams means that you are focusing far too much on “other people’s stuff.” You need to regroup and come back to yourself. You are the only one you have influence over.

When you come across one of these trails in your waking life, the Snail meaning is symbolic of “drawing the line.” In other words, make a stand as to how much and how many projects you are willing to tackle. Thus you must set your priorities and set your boundaries. Love yourself by learning to say no graciously.

Snail – One of the Ten Animals Promoting Change in Your Life

  1. I dreamt of a very big brown snail.. Right in front of my gate which was in a different environment at night .. It wasn’t moving but it was very much alive.. It just faced my house gate.. I was so scared.. I couldn’t even enter the house

  2. I went to see my lawyer in the morning, had to sign some papers there concerning my work and when i arrived i saw about ten snails outside her yard on the wall, what does it mean?

  3. I had a dream of a snail without a shell formed yet, it was white with a little brown colour. It was moving forward, then I asked what it was. A voice told me to just look. When I did, the snail suddenly formed a circle and a big shell grew on it. What does it mean?

  4. This night as I was heading to the kitchen via sitting room from my bedroom I saw a long snail trail on one of my sofas then saw the snail and had to kill it with salt…was so scared…I don’t know what it meant cause it has never occurred to me before

Perhaps you were scared of the snail because some unconscious part of you is scared of taking a slower pace to life. That you believe if you slow down your pace, you will no longer be able to fulfill others’ expectations in your life, though the truth is, if you have been trying to please others for a long, long, long time already without any positive response, then even if you are considered perfect or number one, you wouldn’t be enough for others. When you fulfill their own expectations, all they do is create newer and harder expectations. If you doubt this, look into the past and see if they just end up trying to create a harder and harder set of challenges whenever you fulfill something.

In some way, as strange as it sounds, the snail to you represents the ultimate rebellion. This may seem odd considering snails are not seen as particularly rebellious compared to more aggressively tough animals like lions or tigers, but when you are surrounded by an environment of people like lions and tigers that demand everyone should act the same, then it is the ultimate rebellion to slow down, and enjoy your life for the sake of it without having to work countless hours for money you will never be able to spend much for yourself or your family.

The snail is the opposite ideal of the fast paced world, and so it is seen with very little respect or nobility. It is a lesser animal to many, and with it, its qualities attract contempt, resentment and arrogance for not being fast enough as everyone else. If you feel an irrational hatred for a snail that can barely do much harm to you, then this might be the reason.

  5. Good day, my husband got a job in another province, he had to relocate to be closer to work. Every time i visit him i always find brown snails with stripes and i have started collecting them, and i don’t even know why. There’s so many tenants in the same yard but i am the only one who sees them, is there a spiritual message with this, I’ve already collected 8 living snails i don’t even want to sit outside just incase i find another one. Please advise.

It’s okay to have some pet snails if you want to. You can read up lots of information online on how to care for some pet snails. Perhaps you feel drawn to a slower paced and simpler life, which is why you feel a fascination with snails. Perhaps look up concepts like “minimalism”, “minimalism books” or “minimalistic lifestyle,” to see some extra information around this online.

  6. I entered my room and there on the outside of window, the snail was on the window. then i thought to myself could this mean something, could this be a message in the nature telling me to think, slow down?

    1. EspionageCookie

Considering it is next to a window, it may mean that you need to change your perception of the world slowly, and deeply. When you rush your thinking and decisions, you lose the ability to think as deeply and as meaningfully. The next time you are lost in thought on a break, perhaps it’s best to just let your thoughts wander instead of getting yourself to do something else. Perhaps the perception you need in life to succeed in your goals is not something wider, but deeper instead.

  7. Few days ago I woke up in the morning & open my door the first thing I saw was snail and I don’t know the meaning of that but all I could remember I said this could be a message but however it might be a sign of blessings, please what’s that stand for & does it good to kill such snail because I later kill it. Your advice please

    1. EspionageCookie

It seems to mean that you might be working so hard in a career or any other project that requires hard work that it is neglecting your health. If you suddenly crash of exhaustion working so hard everyday, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

  8. Courage is swimming in your fear, towards a direction. Yes, it is all around you, all over you, you are soaked in it and almost drowning in it, but still, you decide to paddle and crawl in a direction, however slow or awkward it may be.

Snails can’t hear. They’re telling you to -ignore those opinions-, unroll yourself and crawl out, and forget about that slimy mess you leave in your trail!

    1. Dear, I was cleaning a house today and repainting bathrooms. I started to put everything back in place, removed dust, and so forth. Walking past one of the bathrooms, I saw a giant black snail, one without a shell. It was approaching me as I entered the bathroom, and at no point did i guess where this snail came from. I panicked and threw it inside the toilet and flushed it more than 6 times. Why I panicked so much, and what does it mean the whole snail story?

  9. I Am sitting in the woods on a bench with a snail sitting next to me.
The burnt land is all of your perceived failures to reach a very important goal or desire in your life that you have yet to conquer. The snail is a Promise of reaching this dream yet. Patience, steady determination. As it Is Promised then never give up. Be courageous and filled with Faith as you bring your desire to fruition thru a new, bold, and imaginative approach.
That is what the snail is telling me and yoh and i and this snail did not connect by some crazy coincidence. I wish you well in Gods Peace.

  10. Hi there, I keep getting black small baby snails in my bathroom. I don’t have plants in my bathroom so where do they come from and what does it mean

    1. EspionageCookie

It seems to mean that you are slowing down in life due to some form of depression, sadness or intense grief over something or someone. You are unable to resume the normal pace of your life because there is something that is keeping you feel too heavy to move forward much.

    1. EspionageCookie

A brown snail signifies a pragmatic business opportunity that is not very adventurous, but offers a lot of profit. Depending on your preferences of careers in life, that can be good or bad according to your particular personality.

I was at the laundromat today I always get a little toy out of the machine $0.25 okay I got a fluorescent green snail ring what does that mean I’ve never gotten 1 before I never even thought about snails until today what does it mean

    1. EspionageCookie

A green snail means you will be able to grow as a person in a weakness that you have had very little progress with before.

  12. Don’t forget your shell because I think that’s a very important part of you. Maybe be careful of the trail or the way you put yourself out there. Maybe go places, hide in your shell and observe, not just the surroundings, but those around you. Observe your path, what it says about you, where it seems to be going. Does it have to be relative movements? Study the predators and relatives of the snail and incorporate those too into your life. There’s so many ways and beings out there. I imagine it’s a very limiting feeling to be only snail, so make some friends and get carried away!

  13. I had a dream that l saw a big bag with plenty of snails but not full to the brim then saw some snails on the floor/ground in the bush near the bag. I was picking the ones on the floor and within me l was contemplating whether if l carry the ones in the bag too is not stealing since l wasn’t the one who kept them. Then l remembered that picking snails in the dream might mean something bad then l got praying. Please what’s the interpretation then?

  14. Crissy Lynn Dalphone

A snail literally, just appeared on my right hand middle finger. Sitting in my kitchen in a chair, in the middle on the floor, not touching any other resting place or counter, table or anything. What is the meaning and how do I execute this earth given message?

  15. Hi there, I am Sharon, and I have been drawn to snails on my land for the last few years. I am absolutely enchanted by these little creatures .. I have some animal totem books that say, that maybe I am spending too much time in my “shell”, and that is true . . I don’t go out much, but I do visit with people on the internet . . And your article just said, that I might be spending too much time, “in the past,” and thinking about past hurts. I can see that now, and it is absolutely accurate . . .it’s true that I have become a “loner’ though I don’t WANT to be .. I “used to be” so outgoing, perky and friendly, but due to some very intense hurts in the last ten years, I have been hurt by peoples’ comments, mostly women , like when I try to make women friends at a quilter’s meeting or whatever . . I have a very kind heart, and LOVE people who have good hearts, too, but I seem to “attract” ones who sort of “criticize me”, when I first meet them. I don’t WANT to attract this type of person, but it seems to be a pattern in me . . sooo , since we’ve had a lot of rain the last few days, the snails are coming out from our flower bed (lots of them) and I am just thrilled to see them, but in the mornings, they have also left some beautiful blue snail trails. I know it’s a message for me, I need to come out of my shell, for sure, but I guess I am soo afraid of rejection, like I’ve been feeling the last ten or more years . . . I really am showing my vulnerability to you guys, and I ordinarily wouldn’t do that, but I just wonder if any of you have any “ideas” about how I can be brave enough to go out into the world again . . . thanks everyone, I am a TRUE animal lover, and I’m VERY drawn to Mother Nature . . Sincerely, Sharon

    1. Hi Sharon, I would suggest looking for those qualities within yourself that repel you in others and cause you to retreat into your shell. The book “Conscious Loving” by Gay & Kathlyn Hendricks is a wonderful guide in that process.

    2. Hi Sharon
The reason women are like this with you is they see that you are a beautiful soul & are jealous… you exude a quality they simply do not have……So you go about your day blessed as you are, smile at the world & live YOUR truth… just be you 💖🙏

  16. Perhaps the burnt land is a place where things are not going well; maybe a sense of emergency and panic. Looking for a snail could mean needing time to slow down and find inner peace even during life’s challenging times.

    1. To dream of looking for a snail in a burned land… I believe you’re looking for an unlikely thing in a desolate place. Snails would be the last thing you would find in a place that has been burnt, but you’re looking anyways. It’s a wild goose chase. Let go of whatever troubling thing has you looking into the past. Whatever happened, it’s okay to not see the good traits in it; sometimes bad things happen and no amount of patience or a different perspective can change that you need to move on.
      I hope this helps.
