Woodpecker Meaning and Messages

In this case, Woodpecker symbolism is letting you know that it is time to pay attention because an opportunity is has come knocking along with it. In other words, the Woodpecker meaning is signaling you that significant changes are happening in your life. Therefore, it is up to you to seize the moment. Whether it is the renewal of an old project, the finishing of a new project, or a serendipitous meeting with someone in your life, get busy! Furthermore, whatever way you perceive it, this spirit animal insists that you must understand that the door is wide open for you right now and that success is yours for the asking.

Alternatively, like the Boar, Woodpecker symbolism is reminding you that you must march to your rhythms. In other words, go with your natural flows, and make sure that you keep moving forward without interference from others.

Woodpecker Totem, Spirit Animal

People with the Woodpecker totem have the power of rhythm in their blood. They have a connection to the heartbeat of the Earth and the cycles that rule it. Folks with this spirit animal totem can shake up the awareness of others just by being around them. Like the Toucan, they can also grab everyone’s attention with the simplest of words. Thus they understand the power of their words and use them sparingly and precisely to get their point across. Often these people will be the first to draw everyone’s attention to what needs to get done.

Woodpecker Dream Interpretation

When you have a Woodpecker dream, it is asking you to pay attention to your waking life. In other words, like the Blue Jay dream, there may be something you have overlooked, and it is trying to bring it back into your focus. Therefore, work diligently with your current project so that nothing gets missed.

Occasionally this bird in your dreams will herald the beginning of a particularly busy period for you. Thus there will be a lot of demands on your time. However, you will be able to see it all through to the finish.

  1. I have been interacting with woodpeckers since last summer. The birds are flying onto my hand and not necessarily to feed. I do talk to them and there is no words to describe the peace that I feel while holding the bird in my hand. It has happened in more than one occasion at the park where I go and not necessarily the same spot. My daughter took a few videos and pictures as apparently is no common for a woodpecker to interact with someone like this. I feel like the bird knows that I am at peace and can feel my energy. It is an amazing feeling and I am thankful for their trust!

Just wondered where you get all the information. I do appreciate your words on the woodpecker, but is this still a dream .

  3. Today I was taking a break at work and I found a very young woodpecker on the ground in our parking lot. It was unable to fly. I picked it up, and he was not happy about it. I took him to a local wildlife rescue. They put the little guy in an incubator and so far he is doing fine. Not sure if this has meaning but it was pretty amazing to me. I have never seen a woodpecker before in the flesh, just in photos.

  4. I went camping with my dad and the next day the both of us heard a woodpecker pecking on a tree nonstop. I loved the sound of it. It felt so inspiring and relaxing. The sound tickled my ears but I liked it. Now that I’m learning about the woodpeckers powers and abilities, I have a feeling that the woodpecker might’ve been a sign. A great and amazing sign actually. Thanks woodpecker! 😉

    1. I understand what you are saying kid. I don’t know how or why, but a similar thing happened to me. They are magical little creatures.

  5. I just had an odd thing happen. I’m in my kitchen lost in thought but what about I honestly don’t know. I recall thinking about how long it’s been since my furnace kicked on since it’s currently 30° and snowing. When I start to notice the sounds of a bird and I thought it’s got to be close because it was so loud. I look up and outside my kitchen window I see a red-bellied woodpecker on the handrail of my deck looking at me and just talking away. I smiled and said “well hello there little one, it’s a bit cold for a walk today, isn’t it?” He cocks his head from side to side talking the entire time. He stops talking but never stops looking at me than turns sideways, chirps a time or two, turns away as if to fly, than turns around and looks at me chirping once again and takes off.

It’s not uncommon for me to see or heard woodpeckers around my home. But in a little over 2 years of living here I have never had an encounter with the wildlife like this one. My life has been out of character and I’ve been feeling out of sorts since about 2013-2016. Lately I’ve gotten in trouble (roughly a year ago and I have returned to resolve this) and have all sorts of things going on personally & in my personal life. For some odd reason I feel like my little visitor holds some kind of meaning and was trying to tell me something.

I stumbled across this site and was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some insight?

  6. I had a dream in a very familiar place. Grandmothers land whom is still alive aside from that i was singing and i noticed an owl and he flew to me and landed on my hand and then as i walked to the front yard still singing a woodpecker landed on my shoulder..

  7. On two separate occasions, Ive had the opportunity to witness the majestic pileated woodpecker. It wasn’t knocking on wood but calling out. I have two of them, twice now. Both of them have been flying close to me and I haven’t seen them in a couple days. I was told that it is a sign of good luck from an Inuit woman whom I’ve come into acquaintance with. Does anyone else have any input?

    Thanks in advance

  8. I just saw a blue woodpecker jump around my yard for about 10 minutes. It was so beautiful!!! I just want to know what it means?
