Bear Meaning, and Messages

For the most part, Black Bear symbolism is about introspection. In particular, the Bear meaning is letting you know that it is time to go inward and explore the notion of your very existence. Therefore, with this spirit animal, you must delve deep into your heart to find the significance of your path and journey. In essence, Bear symbolism is notifying you that you are free to roam at will and follow your path.

If this mammal has Cubs close at hand or a Cub visits you, the message is to make sure that you bring your children closer to you. In other words, Bear symbolism signifies that you need to connect with the kids around you and ensure that they are safe, free of fear, and free from harm.

On the other hand, the Grizzly Bear symbolism recognizes that perhaps you are overly sensitive to perceived invasions and threats. Protecting your space is a good thing. However, you may be overreacting to the situation.

In contrast, Kermode or Spirit Bear meaning reminds you that we are all stewards of our environment. Everyone must do their part to stop the progressive destruction of this once pristine planet. Spirit is advising us that every little bit is a part of the whole.

Comparatively, the Brown Bear meaning inspires us to bring balance and integrity to the physical world. It is your mission to generate harmony in the world and the ecology of this planet.

Bear Totem, Spirit Animal

People with the Black Bear totem have a great deal of patience in manifesting their ideas and projects. They excel in waiting for just the right moment to spring them on the universe. Additionally, they have great confidence in who they are and where they are going in life. For the most part, they are authority figures. Also, they are nurturing and protect all children well.

Folks with the Brown Bear totem have an excellent understanding of their destiny. They know their direction, purpose, and are great facilitators in helping others find their way. Besides, people with this totem are very mission-oriented.

People with the Grizzly Bear as their spirit animal totem are fiercely competitive and can be highly aggressive in attaining their goals, independent thinkers, and generally wish to be left alone.

Conversely, people with the Kermode or Spirit Bear totem as their guide in life are deeply devoted to the planet. They walk this planet on a mission to restore its balance. Their focus can be so intense that they will occasionally forget to nurture themselves in the process.

Bear Dream Interpretation

When you have a Bear dream, it could signify that it is time to explore your thoughts. Thinking the same thing over and over may be creating an undesired reality. Perhaps you have allowed others to do your thinking for you! Step back and reassess things. Go inward and find your precise feeling on this matter and follow what you know is right in your heart.

Alternatively, if this mammal is cinnamon in colour, it represents the need for you to return to those things that give you comfort in life. Being a martyr has its values, but in this case, the cost to yourself is more than you should carry.

If your Bear dream includes a grizzly, it is a warning that there are destructive and terrifying processes such as earth changes (global warming) and earthquakes coming. It forewarns of a natural disaster of some type in your vicinity. In this case, the message is clear that the force of nature is far more potent than humankind.

To see a cub in your dream vision indicates the need for you to connect with your inner child to heal past trauma. It is not wise for you to ignore this episode in your life, and it needs to recover so that you can move on. The white Kermode indicates that new wisdom and knowledge are forthcoming shortly. Conversely, if one of these mammals is seen in the colour green, it announces the transformation of past traumas, and regeneration of growth within yourself.

  1. I dreamt of driving down a two lane road at night and came across two black bears, one was dead, and the other was rolling around, dying. There was blood and carnage all over the road, and I wasn’t sure if I should call someone to put the other bear out of its misery or try to do it myself. What does this mean?

  2. The other night I dreamed of a cinnamon colored and white Panda bear chasing my brother, well when my brother got to me the bear started eating his leg and I grabbed my pocket knife and started stabbing the bear in the neck and then It turned into a cinnamon colored dog. All the while I felt sick to my stomach killing the bear, out of nowhere a little baby girl shows up giggling. Now mind you in the dream I had been told that she would never be able to walk.. well she stands up on one stick like leg and a normal leg and walks over to me giggling saying mama! Mama! Look! I was overcome with joy bit still felt sick about the bear dying. Then the other day I dreamed a white polar bear was chasing me and my house appeared out of nowhere and I kept thinking, if I can just make it to the door in time I’ll be good.. I made it to the house and slammed the door just as the bear got to my sidewalk in the dream. I then dreamed I was barricading my doors shut to keep people out. I gave up the fight when they broke through my door. I’ve never given up a fight in my dreams. I have never stopped running in my dreams. I have never not felt fear in my dreams. Can you please explain this?

  3. I’ve had a dream two nights in a row about a grizzly bear and a gray fox. They’re always together but the dreams were in two different locations. The first dream was in my backyard where the fox was just standing near our creek and the bear began walking towards us. It wasn’t running or growling at us but was definitely coming our way so we ran inside. It eventually walked down the creek bed and away from our house. The second night I saw the grizzly bear and gray fox in a dark green field that was surrounded by a forest. They were walking in the same general direction as other animals that I couldn’t really see or remember but it’s like everyone was going to the same place. I was more of a spectator in this dream and the animals didn’t see me but I knew I was supposed to be where they were. It felt peaceful and not scary at all.

  4. I researched my daughter’s American Indian ancestors back to the rolls about a week ago on 8/12. We will probably submit a tribal application soon. BUT–A few nights ago I dreamed I was just outside my door, standing on my porch. I looked down and there was a brown bear cub rolling around and acting very playful and inviting. I realized that it was probably unwise to befriend or pet a wild bear, but the bear cub was so friendly that I did pet its back and neck (very quick and briefly). The cub’s hair was dense and had a sort of part in it. Anywho, the bear won me over! I was thinking about how I might see my new bear cub friend again sometime on the porch (thinking this in my dream), kind of like the way a person develops a relationship with a feral cat. I didn’t immediately make the American Indian symbolism connection. I consider myself a somewhat conservative Christian, but it was very cool experiencing such a “real” vivid dream.

    1. When I read your dream , had shivers all over, usually that means , it has sm touchment with spiritual world and ur thoughts about connection between dream and native American thing..is highly possible.

  5. I’ve been dream bears alot past two months not same thing thou so please message me I’d like to know what these dreams mean

  6. I have had this dream twice now and I’m really curious to find out what it means. I dreamt I was on a battlefield in the mountains, fighting from the air. This is where it becomes a video-game kind of scenario. The plane I was in crash-landed. When I woke up, I was told (do not remember how I was told) to escape a large bear lurking on that peak. I had to go into a cave and find a safe passage. I turn around and this large brown-white bear starts chasing me kind of slowly but still able to keep up with me. I go into the cave and try to find the passage multiple times, but I keep dying to the bear. The first time I had this dream, I took the wrong path and ended captured by some weird alien army. The second time I had the dream, I found the right path and ended up at a dead end in some pipe system. Any insights on its meaning? Thank you!

  7. Three thin, starving grizzly bears broke through my office window as I ran and hid my coworkers. The bears started to follow but heard my dog barking downstairs and decided she’d be their target. I feared for my dog and felt the need to protect but also helpless. I perceive this dream as protective against empty threats and to maintain calm in looking at all sides. Any other insight or ideas? Thank you.

From what I gather, I perceive your dream that particularly in your workplace, you are having to survive in a tough environment where many people act overly competitive towards you out of envy and a need to be number one with everything. If you feel people need to one up you with everything, then it’s a sign to keep your distance from them or make sure your boundaries from them are secure. Also look up information online on “workplace bullying,” if this applies.

    2. I had a dream last night where I befriended a small brown bear cub. We were playing in the trees and rolling around the grass. We were having fun and then momma bear started to look for her cub. I got spooked so I hid away. Then I woke up. How would you interpret this dream?

  8. “Everyone is still alive” started with getting my eyes swabbed at some club with some type of drug from a friend “never did drugs” then my uncle asked if I took something in my eyes but I lied “in which I was at my grams all a sudden” then was effected and quickly admitted I did. Next I’m with my parents and grandparents but somehow mom made a mess with flour and it was caked all over her face as my parents were wanting to leave when I thought the night was young. But I stepped in flour and tracked it around so I helped pap clean it up after he yelled at me for tracking flour through the house but a baby black bear was there. Leaving was going upstairs in a castle type spiral case like in a rook “never have done and live separate” in which I overheard my grandparents being sad I didn’t trust them to watch over what sounded like a child but this baby black bear was following me up the staircase but as I went down it couldn’t follow anymore because it was chained. Was a small chain but when I looked for the source the links were about the size of a 2 by 4 piece of wood on a reel. I put it on my shoulder and charged to give the bear slack so it could come down stairs with me and see everyone but it was adorable as it pulled too. Then once we got to my grandparents room it was daylight and I sat the adorable black cub on a chair and took the chain off it’s collar in which it’s eyes narrowed in the happiest yet grateful face you could imagine with it’s brown eyebrows and I squeezed and kissed it’s face! Asked dad “randomly there” if he seen it’s face because of how odd it was to see and he said just looks like a dog to me “it was a bear” as my grandparents started happily approaching the cub.
    “Within seconds”
Heavy fog, daylight, full grown black bear side profile which was about 500 yds away in the center of 3 large stones “placed like stonehenge” which was about 300 yards away… to wake up confused.
    Hope you enjoyed the ride!

The symbolism of flour in dreams means that you need to add something to your life to make it work, just as you add flour to your recipe. Now the black bear represents introspection and reflection, and notice that the beginning of your dream had to do with inspecting your eyes for something wrong, which might represent that there is something blurry about your perspective in life. Perhaps you are trying to change everything, but it will never fully change until you reexamine if your beliefs around it are actually true or not in the first place. The black bear being chained might represent that you are unable to take time to pause and reflect in your life anymore due to all the rushing and panic. You showing affection to the baby black bear might mean that a part of you is seeking the comfort of being able to take time in the quiet to think about your decisions without having to rush through it all at once.

  9. Dreamt i was waiting in front of a bank of elevators. Waiting for a set of doors to open. Bell rings, doors open only to be met by a grizzly bear. The Bear roared and stamped its front feet. I let out some yells that woke my wife who in turn woke me. I was absolutely terrified…… so much that the emotion turned to laughter!

    1. EspionageCookie

It seems that this dream represents you waiting for the day where you can express your own boundaries, needs and wants, as the grizzly bear represents. You might be waiting for a chance to be given the permission to set down boundaries, but you don’t have to ask permission to ask for strict boundaries in your life.

    1. After I got home from work I was taking my shoes off and my security camera flashed twice! As I played back the footage a bear is seen coming out of me and I’m having constant dreams about bears! I had another dream about bears today! Seeing a bear coming out of me is something I’ve never seen before and I sent that video to a person who can hopefully shed some light on this!

Reminds me of Winnie the Pooh, which represents our cultural image of golden bears in a cartoon. You can look up “Winnie the Pooh wisdom,” or “Winnie the Pooh quotes,” for example.

      Here are some examples.

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” —Winnie the Pooh

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.” – Winnie the Pooh

“A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.” —Winnie the Pooh

”Just because an animal is large, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t want kindness; however big Tigger seems to be, remember that he wants as much kindness as Roo.”― Winnie the Pooh

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” — Winnie the Pooh

  10. I always have dreams of brown bears, but it’s been a while until last night. I was camping with some friends and we had a great day. Then it got dark and we started a fire and were sitting around it with blankets. Then close by we hear a growl, all headlamps turn that direction and the bears eyes lit up and it was huge. I text my dad first. We begin packing thinking we are okay in such a large group, I wanted to each drive away together but cars began to leave. Then it was just mine and another girls car. She asked me to run and get it but as I started the bear came running at me so I turned around and ran back to barely make it in the back seat. Then I woke up.

    1. EspionageCookie

It seems that if you’re running away from the brown bear, then you are running away from your sense of purpose, calling and mission in life.

  11. I had a dream last night that I was in an old child hood home. A Big Black bear scratched at the front window which my small dog alerted me too. Then it tried to open the front door. Then went to the back door and tried it. But did not get in. So then I am going from wimdow to window watching it. And it is in the yard with three baby bears. Also at ine point I saw a tiger in the yard. Never came back to door but stayed around in yard for a while until going into the woods across the street.

    1. EspionageCookie

Since the black bear represents introspection, perhaps one in your childhood home represents how you have some unresolved issues knocking at your door (as the black bear scratches the front window), yet you’ve been avoiding your past issues out of fear. There is something in your past that affects your present, and you won’t start to heal the present without healing the past, no matter how much you wait. The tiger in the yard seems to represent a need for courage, charisma and confidence to make the changes you want in life in regards to what has badly affected you since childhood.

  12. I dreamed that I worked as a counselor for the a producer of a matchmaking TV show. The producer had a few difficult matches to make since the participants were either troubled people or in the process of sexually transitioning. The show had just broadcast. The producer was annoyed that one of the couples never followed through with her on their progress. Suddenly the man from this match appears at the studio office very angry. He is as an introverted, plain looking small man. He wants to talk to the producer because the woman he was matched with didn’t love him. His match was a woman who had feminine features but dressed as a man. The dream environment changes to a wooded area outdoors and the producer, another staff person and I are now talking bears. The man is still human and he’s upset with the producer. He complains that she (the producer) did not find him someone who could love him. The other staff person and I are about 800 feet from them. I call out to the man that we will do our best to find him someone because everyone deserves love. He walks away from the producer/bear and crosses the dirt road, past a car and walks into the brush. He takes out a gun which the producer does not see but I do. I have a small pistol and try to shoot at the man but it is ineffective. The man shoots himself in the head, calls out, then a group of several men in farmer’s attire carrying guns come out of the brush. They ask the producer/bear is she is Mrs. Powers (name?). She says yes and they all start shooting at her. Alarmed and frightened, I tell the staff member that we have to run and hide in the woods. End of dream.

Bears in general represents introspection, and it seems that since you turned into a bear in your dream, it means you need to reflect around the topic at hand. It seems clearly that you are thinking of romance somehow, and most likely it describes your own romantic life rather than others. It seems to point to dreams that you fear not being able to find love because you’re too masculine as a woman, and some paranoid part of you believes some people out there hate masculine strong and independent women so much that they want to kill them or harm them in some way, which might mean you grew up in a very strict traditional setting. There might also be potentially LGBT themes here, though know a masculine woman is not necessarily a lesbian, and neither is a masculine woman necessarily someone who wants to transition into a man, if that is what your traditional community keeps accusing you of. Though if you’re either of these things, there’s nothing wrong with that.

  13. So, I just had this dream where I was with loved ones walking down a path. Idk what animals we were except my friend the white duck. Well, we’re walking down this path and we had taken this way before and usually theres a white and brown moose that we would let go in front of us on the trail but this time we went ahead of them. Which im return made me pretty nervous. We continue walking fowm this path passed a flooded subway kind railwood track. Where i was, it seemed like an abandoned wild life education place. Anyway, we keep walking till we reach this cave. I go to walk in but hear something eating. The group I was in suggested we throw an apple Grenade. (Which doesn’t exist) and im like NO lets use this real grenade. But one of my friends told me to stop. To find out what’s in there before we do anything. So I chucked an empty loud can in there in hopes to scare out whatever was in the cave and out shot this informative paper on endangered bears. I never saw the bears I don’t know what kind of bears they were. But I knew after that happened bears were inside the cave eating. What could this dream mean. Ive been trying yo intterpret it.

    1. EspionageCookie

Perhaps this points out how your friend is trying to show you an opportunity (since ducks represent opportunity), but you are deciding to harm the opportunity itself that is in the form of a bear. Since a bear represents introspection, perhaps the opportunity is the chance to reflect in quiet a lot of issues you never had the time to think about in depth. Though instead of making use of this opportunity, you feel annoyed at having to slow down rather than impulsively making decisions that keep having consequences later on, until you find out the bears are endangered. That is, that your time to reflect on your own decisions, rather than have everyone tell you what to make as a decision without thinking on your own, is limited.

  14. In my dream, I was sleeping in the back of the truck with my boyfriend and I wake up to this sound of something outside making noises as if it’s running back and forth from side to side.
I feel afraid and my heart races.
Sitting up and looking at the door, I see a bear come out from under the end of the tent where the tailgate is. My boyfriend sits there next to me and he backs away.
I tell him not to move and the bear just sits there with one paw on the tailgate and she turns her head as if she’s trying to get me to follow.

    1. EspionageCookie

It seems that the bear wants you to follow her, meaning that you need to find inspiration from the bear’s characteristics to figure out whatever problems you have right now. You also might want to look up multiple spirit animal pages on the bear all over the internet for this.

  15. At the end of September, at the end of an annual trip in Tibet I dreamed that I was at home in my English village, in front of my house, and a very disheveled Grizzly Bear was wandering in the road. Cars were fearfully driving around him or her. I felt both afraid of and very worried and concerned for the bear, and I was trying to call the “authorities” so they could come and take it to a safe and appropriate place.

Grizzly Bears do live in Tibet and Tibetans say that people are afraid of them but that they are afraid of us too. They do attack people but I suspect it is either out of fear or people have inadvertently got between a mother bear and her cubs.

Maybe I’m feeling “grizzly” (my mum used to tell me off for “grizzling” as a child), or is it to do with the mother, or even hibernating? Or, I see above, Climate Change which is pertinent to us all now. I’m not sure what it means.

  16. In my dream I was swimming in a warm lake. I looked to my left and a brown bear was swimming beside me. I had a thought to be afraid but choose not to. I held in to the bear and let her do the swimming. Two cubs showed up and greeted me with their noses. We swam for a while then two beaver showed up on my right and we all swam together. I was content and happy to live in the water with the bears and beaver. Then a giraffe head popped up in the water we greeted with nose touching again and we all swam together. I woke up shortly after.

  17. In my dream, I was walking in a park near my house. I turned a corner and saw a mama brown bear with 2 cubs. I panicked for a half second. Then, I realized that they were calm. I stayed calm and turned to walk away. The cubs started chasing me, playfully. Mama bear followed. I continued to walk away to try and get away before mama changed her mind about being peaceful. I turned into some dumpsters. (No dumpsters are in this park IRL.) There is a mountain cat between the dumpsters. The cat goes to attack the bear cubs. Mama bear and I jump in to protect them….I wake up.

  18. I had a dream recently about a mamma grizzly bear…she seemed to be restrained and agitated…I have 4 kids but in my dream my youngest (boy) innocently took one of the mamas cubs to play with…the bear then came unrestrained and protecting her cub she killed my son with a bite to the back of his head/neck….I witnessed him laying there dead. Any ideas on what this may symbolize?

    1. That bear could be a reflection of yourself. It could be the bear totem reminding you to treat others the way you want to be treated, and giving you a reminder not to go rushing in with anger as your first approach. What would you do if you saw a Grizzly bear holding your son? I’m guessing you would quickly grab a gun, anything for your loved ones. Protectiveness is good, but I personally think this dream is reminding you that it’s a wise thing to be more perceptive into a story or situation, to always look at stories from both sides before you make a judgement call.

  19. In my dream i saw a brown bear I quickly alerted others we tried blocking it’s path in other for it no to get to us but we couldn’t so we ran, I was with a guy we ran together before the but the bear never gave up we then splited it followed me alone I had to take a motorcycle, but I was still not comfortable I felt like it was still following me

  20. I had a dream a couple nights ago that I can’t seem to figure out…and even though it was all over the place it felt so meaningful.

If anyone has any thoughts on it that would be great!

There was a bunch of flooding on the road right before the town I grew up in. So much so that somehow my family and I ended up in a floating house. For some reason I had to get across the road and into the town. I decided to use a blow up pool toy and a large stick as a paddle to row my way across. I ended up not being able to go past a huge unknown obstical on my way over. I looked down and could t see anything under me and panicked. I fell in the water. The next thing I knew a brown bear swam over to me and took me under water (under this obstical). As soon as I grabbed the scruff of its neck the water became clear and I could see everything within the water. We swam under this obstical and the bear brought me to the entrance of my home town (we were still under water). I reached out and stroked its head and then looked over to the entrance. There was a beautiful woman (still under water) surrounded by light and flowers. The dream ended with me in between her and the bear.

    1. My first thought: something feels wrong about something that once made you feel safe. You feel the need to confront this uneasiness alone. You find the source (the obstacle) but can’t understand how to navigate it. You panic and are taken by it (the bear). You take ahold of the problem (the bear) and it guides you to your goal (your old town). At your crossroad, there is a temptation (the woman) that will distract you from your resolution. A choice must be made.

      Maybe?

  21. Little Okwari, Little Bear
(For my newborn great nephew Hudson…)

You were born under the sign of your Great Grandmother’s Clan
The sign of Okwari, the Bear
She, Okwari, is a great protector
and will always keep you safe
Your Great Great Grandmother, your Great Tóta
Who, like Okwari, had great Ka’shatsténhshera,
    great Power
    and great Atonhnhetshera
    great Spirit
She will always keep you strong and safe
Welcome to this earth, little Okwari
    Little Dancer of Joy
You have come surrounded by great Love
    Those who are here
And those who walked before us
    You are loved
    You are made of Love
    Welcome, Welcome
    Little Okwari
    Little Dancer of Joy
    You will always walk
a protected and a welcome path
This is the sign that came to me on the day that my great nephew, Hudson, came into this world, on the day that my lovely, strong and so brave niece, Tabitha, along with her wonderful husband, Mike, gave their first birth. Okwari was my Tóta, my Grandmother, their Great Grandmother, and Hudson’s Great Great Grandmother’s Clan. For the Kanien’keha:ka, the Mohawk, you belong to the Clan of your female line. I am glad, I am filled with great joy that Okwari chose to show herself on the day of Hudson’s birth. It means that he will always walk with his Great Great Tóta, and under the protection and guidance of the Great Bear.

  22. Bears have appeared several times in my dreams over the past year. They’re usually brown bears and have been non-threatening. Until last night. Last night I dreamt that I was walking down a path in the woods and a very large brown bear came out from behind a tree and swatted me down to the ground. It seemed I was going to be attacked, but before I knew it, I had rotated myself around to the bear’s back and effortlessly snapped it neck. I then climbed off and headed back up the path from the direction I had come. On my way out of the woods, I passed a small rocky outcropping with a cave and saw a bear cub standing at the edge. I realized that it was it’s mother I had killed and she was just trying to protect it. I’m very curious about any insight anyone may have to offer about this.

    1. Your dream seems to be a message to tell you that you are perhaps going through life and making decisions or choices with little or no awareness about the consequences for others. Start paying closer details to who is around in real life and look further than the immediate. Also, if you have a child or sibling or young person in your life, pay more attention to them…

  23. Four days ago I had a dream that differed a lot from my usual dream patterns. Can someone help me analyze it?

I am standing in a pitch black environment.
In front of me, looking back at me, is a hybrid creature with the body of a grizzly bear, head of a lynx and tail of a unicorn.

The creature shakes its tail and stands still, just looking behind at me.

It suddenly vanishes in a vortex and in its place appears a genderless face with closed eyes and a deadpan expression.

This face also vanishes in a vortex only for three equaly genderless others to appear in its place.

The middle face wears a neutral countenance. The one to the left wears a smug and smirking expression. The one to the right has a lifted eyebrow and a grim looking appearance.

All three vanish in yet another vortex, but this time several faces in random and quick succession start to appear in multiple spots around me at the same time.

I become surrounded with genderless faces of all kinds with all types of expressions, of all races, ethnicities and appearances. Either looking or not looking at me at all.

Suddenly, all of them disappear in a vortex and only the void remains.

I’m still standing there and I don’t wake up until someone shakes my body.

Also, I was dressed in a ragged white and blue dress.

  24. I was walking along in a field where there was a picnic area in front of me with a large group of people I was alone in the field I was holding something might have been a cub I heard someone scream I looked up a woman was pointing behind me I looked an saw a black bear walking up from behind me there was still a large group of people in front I fell to the ground curled up in some kind of ball the bear rolled me around a minute or two with his nose never hurting me my body became lifeless with a great sigh of release when I looked up the bear was gone and what ever I was holding wasn’t there anymore I felt a overwhelming feeling of peace then I woke up..

  25. I had a really odd dream about a brown coloured bear. I was walking over a bridge and bears were playing in the water below. One bear climbed on the bridge and everyone else backed away from it. I just stood there and the bear came to me, gave me a piece of paper (I can’t recall what was on it) and let me stroke it’s head. It then stood up and started licking my face. Does anyone know what this means? I also recall the word ‘aztec’ being used.

    1. That’s so similar to the dream I had last night. I was in the water with some other people, and a large brown bear came swimming toward us, then stopped and let us pet his head. He was calm and friendly.

  26. My totem animal is a bear. Last night I dreamt of a huge black and white female bear, it was as if it was peppered more then exact color patterns. It walked to me and put it’s paw against my palm and we walked hand in hand. I never felt a connection like that! Felt happiness and security that I had a companion. what could it mean? I barely have any native american blood, just a small amount.

  27. Hi

I was awakened by sensing something in the room, and I saw white bear standing up looking into the distance, it felt like something was coming but I was being protected. I am trying to find out more information about spirit bears if there are any suggestions of further resources that would be great please. Thank you

    1. Following because I am looking for information on spirit bear. I think it is my spirit guide

  28. I didn’t have a dream but an encounter. I was driving my car through an area where I used to live. It was out in the country. I used to live there and drive 40 miles to the city to work. I lived there for over 10 years and in that time I saw many animals. Frogs, salamanders, otters, beaver, bobcat, cougar, kestrels, elk, deer, coyote….. on and on. I am still so grateful to have lived this.
One day about 15 years ago I was driving into town and saw a mother black bear and two cubs cross the road far in front of me.
Last year I was driving in the area, just sight seeing and missing living there. I was reminiscing about all the different animals I had seen while living in the area. When I came to the part in the road where I had seen the bears years ago, a bear came over the guardrail and onto the road. I stopped the car. The bear stopped in the middle of the road, stood on it’s hind legs and looked directly at me for a split second, fell back onto all fours and continued across the road and over the opposite guardrail and back into the forest. I sat for a moment stunned. What a gift ! I still wonder what the bear’s message is to me. It was there for me to see and stood to make sure I saw it…..

  29. HEY I JUAT SAW 2 BLACK BEARS IN MY DREAM. THEY WERE IN TROUBLE BUT ONE OF THEM ESCAPED FROM IT. THEN I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THERE WERE ALL OTHER PEOPLE BUT THE BEAR CMAE AFTER ME INTO A PLACE WHERE I WAS TRYING TO HIDE. UNFORTUNATELY ME ELDER SISTER WAS ALSO THERE I TRIED TO SAVE HER ALSO. WE LOCKED OURSELVES IN A HOUSE.BUT SUDDENLY MY LI’L BROTHER CAME THERE I WAS SO SCARED AND I WOKE UP AND NOW I CAN’T SLEEP.
PLZZZZZZ RPLY ME WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS DREAM..

  30. I had a dream last night with a bear. The bear had prepared for disaster near him, had rocks and such to climb on in case of a flood, and a nearby cave to go into in case of more danger. When the danger happened, we both fled into the cave, and the brown bear sat down, looked at me, and I’m pretty sure he either telepathically said or imprinted on me that I needed to be prepared for anything that will come my way… was this just a dream, or is this a symbol for a spirit animal? I admit I had gone to bed last night with spirit animals in the back of my mind, but, everything I’ve read does not help me conclude this is true.

  31. I had a dream last night about Ohkwa:ri, Bear, and today Ohkwa:ri speaks to me yet again. Ohkwa:ri was the Clan, the O’tara’shón of my Grandmother, my Tóta, and the O’tara’shón of my beloved friend and teacher, Roger. These are the two people who kept me alive when I was very young, and they have walked with me for my entire life. Ohkwa:ri was walked with me my entire life. My Grandmother, my Tóta, has been speaking to me much this week. I can feel her walking very close to me now. I can feel that part of her that lives inside me ready to speak through me. Ohkwa:ri is strong and brave. Ohkwa:ri is wise and adaptable. Ohkwa:ri is my Grandmother. Ohkwa:ri is Roger. Ohkwa:ri is me.

  32. I recently just found out I am part Native American. Then a few nights ago, I had a dream about a memory had put in the back of my mind for a very long time. When I was 7, I was walking down the street and all of a sudden my dad is waving me to hurry home. Once I get home, he turns me around a bear is about 10 feet behind me but it never scared me. I just smiled at it as it passed by and back up a hill.

When I was 10, my family and I move to the country and we put in a pool. A week later, there were two bears drinking out of the pool. I looked at them through the window as they looked at meand again, all I could do was smile. ( My mother was freaking out). Life has been hard on my family and I these past few years with heart attacks, strokes, cancer, death, and loosing jobs. Could this mean anything?

  33. Bear, Okwari, visits me once again. The Clan of my Grandmother, my Memaire. Bear speaks to me today of the Power, the Ka’shatsténhshera, within me and around me. It speaks to me today too of my Ancestors and that they walk with me at all times. Okwari also speaks to me today of the work that I am doing, the story that I am telling, which has been much on my mind lately and which Okwari, Bear walks often. Okwari is that higher spirit within me, and the Power, the Ka’shatsténhshera, can be frightening, but it can also be the source of strength and courage that go beyond the things of this world. Okwari walks with me always, and I must remain in awe of her, yet not so fearful of her that I cannot act.

  34. Okwaho,
    Bear,
My Grandmother’s Clan keeps coming back to me.
My Grandmother, my Memaire, keeps coming back to me.
My friend, my great friend, Roger, keeps coming back to me.
    I can feel them here.
I can feel the spirit of the bear.
    The mighty heart of Okwaho.
    Always there.
    Always there.
    Always here.

  35. okwari

    okwari, bear
    i meet you again
i meet you in my dreams
i meet you in my thoughts
you are speaking to me now
    as you always have
    in my darkest hours
as i begin a new journey
    you walk with me
    okwari
    bear
    Grandmother
    Memaire
    clan of okwari
    i have lost my way
    grandmother
but i am never so lost
    when you walk with me
    i am never so lost
    that okwari cannot find me
    that you cannot find me
    i am not lost
    my spirit is never lost
    niawen’kó:wa
    thank you

  36. I hope that someone can help me with this. I have been doing research on my own but I have not been able to come to a conclusion. I had this dream last night. Several friends of mine (whom I know in the waking world) were gathered together. I had gathered them together. I knew that we had to work past a gigantic wall of…something. It felt like pure energy. I honestly have no idea what it was. When we did, the transition to get back into solid ground felt like that rush you get when you are dropping in a roller coaster, that stomach tingling feeling. When we arrived there only I was allowed to approach this MASSIVE bear. It looked tired, like it was waking up. It told me that I could only stay and speak to him if I ate some food that he had, and I did. A small bite. We began to speak and though I cannot remember what he told me, it felt very important. Something I perceived as potentially life changing, almost. When I stood to leave, he directed me to a path that forked. All of my four friends went onto one path while I went to another. There were several people waiting for me on that path, just figures in the distance. I knew that these people in some way shape or form were extremely important and I remember seeing a pair of beautiful hazel eyes before I woke up.

    1. It most likely means that Mother Earth is calling for your attention but can’t get the message through before you consciously open the channel. Intuitively you’ll know how.

    2. I feel your dream is suggesting you are strong enough to go your own way. This may mean losing your friends. And before you open your mouth to speak, chew your words. Be brave good things are ahead.

  37. I had a dream last night that i went on a walk in the middle of the night down my street to get to the perpendicular street / main road which is only 4 suburb blocks away. I’ve walked that walk many times so in my dream everything was perfectly the same as in real life. I got halfway down and I saw brown bear sitting up in the driway of one of the houses. It was very dark and I could barely see but I knew it was him. I’ve known brown bear to be my spirit animal for a long time. He is 24 years old. But tonight when I saw him he was angry and I avoided him and kept walking on the other side of the street while looking at him from
The corner of my eye. I was so so scared. Heart racing trying to not let him recognize me and hoping he wouldn’t follow me. I got to the cross street and crosse to the side with more houses. As I got over there I saw him
Slowly approaching the cross street on the other side. I knew I was fucked. I hid under a car in one of the driveways and he followed, angrily. I knew he was going to hurt me. I rolled under the cars from one vehicle to the next. Finally I hit a brick divider and couldn’t go any further. I got out from under the car and it was a white truck with one of those beds that had a solid cover on it made of metal that you can lift up and close down. So I climbed in there and tried to close it but it was still open like half an inch. Brown bear opened it up and dragged me out and but my leg and tried to kill me. I got away and ran into one of the houses and broke a glass vase from their garden and then I stabbed bear in the face and chest and he fell to ground. I was injured and my sister found me. And the end of the dream was us talking about how I’m going to be put on trial for murdering bear.

  38. Last week I was in my house and I smelled a bear and less than a week later a bear cub (I never saw the mother) ran across my yard. Can you tell me what this means?

  39. Hi, I had an extremely vivid and emotional dream, which is not normal for me. I dreamt I was in a suburb and a large bear came to me. The poor thing had an injured face and looked to be sad and needing help. The houses were all near the forest and it was gated so I rushed to find an opening he could use to get back. We saw other people who startled the bear and I had to calm him down and find another way. It took a long time. Then the craziest thing happened when we finally made it through the thicket; I heard a gunshot. I was terrified the bear was hit, but it wasn’t. I saw a hunter then a tattooed boy fell on the ground. He looked peaceful and I didn’t feel like I needed to run to him. I was still worried about the bear. Right before I woke up I saw him walking away, but he looked at me before as if to say thank you. I felt the rush of relief and woke up.

      Cheryl,
Note the time you posted this comment. Look up Angel number 222.
Your dream feels to me political in nature. The strong animal with the hurt face. Suburbs vs Nature. We are in challenging times in our country, would you say? Perhaps you are called to be a leader in your community? The tatooed boy? Do you stand out from the crowd? Do you feel personally “wounded” by what’s happening in our country, but not “really” physically hurt?” Your dream and question was so timely that I just had to write. Namaste.

  40. Hi
I had a dream last night I was inside the house and saw a small animal in my backyard then looked again a saw a big black bear eating the animals then the bear sees me looking out and comes towards me that’s when I woke up
    What does this mean

  41. I had a dream where a past partner was lying in bed and I walked outside and was on the verandah of a house that was unfamiliar. I saw three black bears and they were playing with children. A bear noticed me and came charging for me aggressively. I climbed up on the roofing where it looked like scaffolding. As I went across the wooden planks as I looked down I could see the house. I heard the bear than saw the bear had climbed up and still chasing me. I called out to my father to grab the rifle and shoot. At the start of the dreamt I felt good when I walked out onto the verandah but then I felt threatened and wanted to run away.

Can anyone please tell me meaning?

  42. I’ve been looking everywhere about my bear dream! I found only one person. Well I dreamed I was chasing a tiny sized grizzly bear! He ran towards me once I realized it wasn’t a bug but a real bear. I was excited! It ran up to me stated at me as if it were afraid I chased it in disbelief. It ran so fast then in the hallway there were more but I can’t remember what animals but it got away

  43. I dreamt last night that I was in my childhood home, on my closed porch facing the lake when a brown bear came running from the distance across the lake which was frozen and covered with snow. The bear came running straight at me, I felt nothing, it came mere feet from reaching me before it veered to it’s right and went around the house. I looked out the window and i believe there was an animal of some sort outside on the ground to my left, I do not remember this animal or what it was.

  44. I recently had a dream, I became a bear and I climbed a few stairs. Until I got to a place where I started eating honey. Can it have any meaning?

    1. The one thing people forget when deciphering dreams is that you need to put together the feeling in the dream along with actions of in your case the bear in your dreams ,, a lot of the time the feeling is more important then the thing (bear) in your dreams … If you could remember the feeling you had to accompany the actions of the bear let me know ,, I can then help .. I’ve been deciphering dreams for many years now and there isn’t too many I can’t sort out ,, it helps as well that I have some gifts that help with things like this too.. I Can help with this and anyone else’s dream interpretation a lil more in depth then the sites can so feel free to email me and anyone else reading this could do the same .. I do dreams, and in some cases can get assistance from the physic world at times too ..

    2. I don’t know how to post directly so I’m replying but this is a new post. Looking for thoughts. I was at my home and working with three friends I used to wor with. All of whom I like very much. I got up to look out of my window and noticed three adorable fuzzy black bear cubs playing in the yard. I was delighted to see them and exclaimed to my friends to come look. Suddenly, they were in the kitchen right next to me. They were adorable and nuzzling me. I fed them with whatever was in my hand. In the back of my mind I knew they cold be dangerous but the overwhelming feeling was playful. I just loved playing with them. I did notice one was a little thinner than the others and was concerned for her. Overall it was sweet and exciting. Any thoughts?

    3. Hi dms

Bears are a symbol of renewel and in your case I believe it has more to do with your time you spent working with your friends .
Maybe it’s time to try it again , it sounds very much like you are at a point in life where growth and independence is coming , however there is a definet link between this coming moment and your past friends , look out for oppurtunities that come in regards to doing somthing new with old friends ,, it will be a moment of growth ,,
      Hope this helps

    4. At the beginning of the dream. I felt alone, but when I became a bear and started up the stairs that stopped caring. When after climbing the stairs I finally arrived at the place where the honey was only thinking about enjoying it.

    5. Hi Tespa
The bear is a symbol of renewel and independence . Perhaps with the alone feeling you had sends a message that in the beginning of an issue in your life you were feeling isolated and like you had no one to really talk with but turning into a bear and getting to the end of your Horner (as bear) denotes that you will soon arrive a a spiritual moment to which you are satisfied with your progression (up the stairs) .if your going through a change in life right now or it’s just ending know that this all means you will be feeling independent and it is needed to help you gain the upper hand in regards to life’s journeys .what you have been seeking will soon be recognized , try not to forget the ones that helped you alone the way no matter how small because in their life at that moment of helping you it took them a lot to put aside their journey to help you progress ..
      Hope this helps .

    6. If you’re still in touch with your psychic abilities and dream reading, I’d like to get your assistance with some dreams and any other reading type methods you may have. How would I go about emailing you?

    7. How do I find your email address? I have a few events that has taken place that would be interesting to know more insight on them. Thank you for your time! 💡

    8. I dreamt my daughter and I were in a hotel that was literally its own mini city… the elevator was like a movie theater seating… ( Ive dreamt being in this elevator before and knew what was about to happen, yet didnt act on it) the elevator fell many flights very quickly before it stopped… everyone seemed as if it were normal… I got up from my seat ( I didnt sit next to my daughter for some reason) and we walked off… When we were outside it was beautiful and my daughter was way down on a wooden homade raft, with a white sail… the water was blue except close to shore, where she was it was this beautiful vibrant lit up blue… slowly her raft sunk in this water.. not a ripple nor any fight from h er… she just fully submerged into the water as I watched… I remember thinking to myself.. omg I need to screem.. I need to be searching for her, I need to find her.. so I did just that but there was NO sign of her… I looked around and the plants were so huge, like over sized… it was kind of jungle like… the animals were 25 times my size… like prehistoric dinasours… but like a leopard and stuff… I woke up and knew I had to get back into the dream… ( I do this often ) when i went back in, I was on the back side of this hotel. I was on this platform that sat down in the middle of this cliff.. there was this body of water… that was like the biggest lake, but it was a river… I looked accross the lake and saw a bear sleeping on a platform also… I looked to the right of me and noticed a tiger or some cat like animal jump accross this ocean like river… I was astounded that is how big the animals were and everything around me. I panicked as I looked back at this bear, laying on its back knowing if it woke up and saw me, he could jump accross to where I was… I also had a small toddler aged child with me now. I was staring at this bear and his eyes opened… I noticed him looking in my direction and trying to focus.. his head turned and eyes squinted as his vision pierced in on me… I knew I had to save the child.. I pushed the child up over the huge cliff and screamed run.. run and dont stop… at the same time the bear was getting up and jumped accross the river/ocean to the perch I was on.. I was just about to the top of the cliff when he grabbed my leg and pulled me back down… I was scared to death but the bear spoke to me… He said to the best of my recollection… Dont be afraid I will not hurt you.. Ive done this before… and I said just let me go to the top of the ledge and Ill listen… He kept holding me and saying.. Ive done this before I know what Im doing and I wont hurt you as long as you listen to me… and I woke up

What in the world is this message?

    9. Hey, Derek! I have been scouring the internet for the last hour, since waking up, for an exact interpretation of my dream about a black bear. However, no posts I found were close enough.
In my case, a male black bear kept coming into my yard, a suburban neighborhood with a patch of woods behind the back fence, and was also in my house a couple of times. I got the bear to leave a few times by opening the front door and the side gates of the house, but it wouldn’t always leave when I wanted it to and kept coming back. Sometimes it would come up to me outside, stand on its back legs, and put a paw on me. The claws occasionally dug into my skin a little bit, not terribly though, kind of like when a cat is playing and doesn’t realize it’s digging in. The bear seemed relatively friendly for the most part. I remained constantly wary of its actions, torn between letting it do what it wanted while being afraid of the possibility of attack. The last evening in my dream, a couple of hunters on motorcycles arrived in the street in front of my house and I told them what had been going on. They seemed confused about the situation and what to do, but apparently convinced the bear to follow them back down the road. A few moments later while in my backyard I heard 5 gunshots, 2 shotgun and 3 rifle, with the last being the final rifle shot. I had mixed emotions about the hunters deciding put the bear down, partly feeling sad for the bear as it did me no harm, but also relieved it was gone. In very last part of the dream I was going into my back storm door leading to the kitchen. I turned and noticed two cats hunkered down in the woods line, which I don’t own actually own in awake life but did in my dream. They started cautiously for the door, seemingly aware the bear was finally gone, and I called for them to in come for the night. To shortly describe my daily life, if it may be of any relevance, I’ve been working on website development every day. Sometimes I work 12 – 14 hours a day adding and editing historical info which I would like to turn into my 3rd published book. I apologize for what may be a lengthy description of it all, but I remember every bit of the dream and figured anything might help. I would greatly appreciate any insight you have!

  45. I had a strange dream where I was walking along a river and saw a bear on all fours in a large clearing, it spoken to me so as it walked I followed. It spoke but I do not regocnize the tongue it used. My name was used once or twice, after traveling a few yards it swallowed me, no attack no mauling or ripping it just…. swallowed me then I woke up. I would really like to know what it means or an idea of what it means.

  46. Please, someone explain this to me; I have been having this rather bothering dream lately; two to be exact. They are very similiar but still different.

Both dreams start in front of or close to my childhood friend’s house, that is surrounded by pine forest. In the dream, I seem younger than I am, making me look like a child. I’m on a road that goes throug the forest with some friends, whose faces I never make out, but there is a bear on the road.

This is where the dreams start to differ, in my first dream, there is a tall fence around the bear, a cage, separating us. I’m terrified, as the bear follows me by the fence and growls at me. I have to go through, but I’m too scared to move. I see my childhood friend’s father, and ask him to walk with me through the bears cage. He agrees and explains that the bear is tame and I should just walk through. It however follows us as we walk, still growling at me.

In the other dream, I’m with three boys, all different ages, and I have never met them before. This time there is no cage, and we calmly start to walk by that house. Suddenly, the youngest says he saw a bear behind us. I turn around and I see a dark silhuet of a bear in the distance, slowly coming towards us. We panic and try to escape, as the bear comes closer. I run to the house, and hide, trembling in fear in the empty house. Then, the eldest boy comes, and tells that everything is alright. Again, I have never met this older boy, yet I’m terrified of the thought of letting him go as he leads me back home.

I have seen them (both bear and the boys) in my dreams a couple of times now, and I call the boy as a big brother, but I am the oldest of my siblings. Please, what does this mean?

    1. The boys are YOURSELF in your different stages of life. Someone from the past who has authority has led you thus far, but now you need to TRUST YOURSELF with your own wise judgements…YOU ARE the bear!

  47. Last night I dreamt that a big black mama bear and her cub walked up to me and she bowed at my feet. I was scratching her back and felt as if we were one energy! I carried on up a few flights of stairs and she followed me. Three of my friends were watching from a distance and we’re scared for me, but I was at total peace! I woke up feeling AMAZING!

  48. last night I had a dream of a brown bear and a black bear playing in my yard. one looked at me while I was started to see him/her but kept playing with the other bear. sliding on my kids lslude. running around the yard but these were adult bears . :

  49. Hello. Glad I found this site. For a while I have been dreaming of Grizzly bears. Mostly in a home where they are downstairs and I’m upstairs afraid they will get to me. Just recently I dreamnt of a black bear who had gray hair on back of its paw. I will say I listen to all animal signs. I have a crow who visits usually before something important happens. My Great Great Grandmother had a lot of Cherokee in her blood. I have always been Different. I embrace it. Thank you.

  50. I had a dream I saw a mother bear and began running, and then saw 3 cubs, and continued running. I have been concerned for my children’s safety lately. Any thoughts from others? Thank you kindly

    1. You are dreaming about a bear because you are worrying for your children. Before you go to sleep each night, for as long as this takes, imagine yourself as a powerful mother bear, up on her hind legs, looking at the Sky God for strength, and KNOWING that she (YOU) are STRONG ENOUGH to defend your children from the universe. The kids will get the strength. And you will become friends with the bear and stop worrying!!!

  51. I’ve been having some strange spiritual dreams lately. I spoke to a Cree Elder about one with a word I woke up with that was so loud and defined. Wananeeche. I was told spirits were trying to tell me something and to pray for clarity, also do a smudge. The Crwe word I was told meant……Wana- lost and neeche meaning- me. I did all of that and a few weeks later i had a dream that was about a baby brown cub. This cub was snuggling and rubbing on me as I held it. What does this mean? I haven’t had any other dreams since then either. I am a metis. Thank you.

    1. What a beautiful dream 🙂
I love contemplating dreams, the answers they provide and once again questions.
In my opinion, I think you are both the cub and the one cradling it.

Contemplate what it means to be the bear, to be held and snuggled by a human, what does that mean to the bear?
Why were you holding and snuggling the bear? Were you afraid of it? Did it cross your mind that people are afraid of bears or that some people shoot them for prize?
Did you want to protect it? Make it happy? Why wasn’t it scared of you?
Ask your guides to keep showing you the story. Accept the message without judgement, nor expect a message every time you ask. They know what they are doing and will catch you up to speed when it’s appropriate. For now think about the messages they give you, what they do (or do not) mean to you and how you might consider trying to apply them to your daily life.

  52. My husband and I have been trying to conceive our first child for over two years. It has been very difficult waiting patiently and sometimes I get very sad. Last night I had a dream that I was in a deep pool of water swimming while witnessing a man and woman synchronize swim. It was beautiful, seeing them move together so gracefully. I got out of the pool and was dried off by my childhood friend who appeared very pregnant. I was then going to walk to a small wooded cabin hidden in the forest to rest and stay warm. I sensed there were bear in the forest so I clapped my hands against the bark of a cedar tree and started to sing (something i do when hiking alone to keep mountain lion away). As I turned down the path to the cabin, a brown bear / possibly a grizzly came running full speed (on its hind legs like a human) and ran into me. I felt the weight and fur of the animal atop me and awoke afraid. It felt like the animal entered me and we were breathing together. The bear was also afraid I sensed and I wanted to comfort it but was so aware of its size and power knew it could destroy me. What do you think the message is here? My whole life I have loved bear. As a baby and toddler I grew up on a bear skin rug that was gifted to my grandfather from a native. My grandmother also always gifted me bears and bear symbols throughout my life. I don’t know what the fear means? I would like to better understand this powerful dreamtime encounter.

    1. WOW!!! JUST WOW!!! I can already tell that you nurture SO MANY!!! (You are already more of a “mother” than most could ever dream…) I believe that you have SO much love, and SO MUCH power, that you are a little bit afraid of actually having a cub…you need to just let go…let it go…let it go on, and on and on…Give the universe it’s chaos. Give yourself a break. Let the accidents happen and be in love with whatever emerges!

  53. I dreamed the other night of a grizzly bear high up in the Alaska Range, above the tree line in the snow. I was lying down with it, and the bear and I were hugging each other. Then it got up and ran through swirling snow higher, toward the peak. I was following it, though it was kind of hard to see through the thick snow. I found this fascinating, and it brought me peace for unknown reasons. Any thoughts? I’m very curious!

  54. I was just walking home 2 hours ago and my feet were sore I took of my sandals and four houses before mine a black bear walked out under the street light looked at me for a bit and turned around and proceeded to walk behind the houses, grunting as walk while both of us continued to walk side by side but opposite sides of the street. I just found out two months ago my family comes from Mi’kmaq descent and we are part of the Bear Clan, and 25 years ago an elder said I was spirit bear…would I be able to have a better understanding of my honoured experience. 🙂

    1. You are closer to your family than you think. However there is some growing indifferent to your absence, you must excite the bear with your interest in your family and it’s meaning to allow him closer, show interest in the bear by asking it to continue showing it. Be patient and act kindly, you were gone from the bear a long time, he might be aloof if you expect a warm welcome. Follow his lesson without judgement and if you enjoy what he will show you, build the relationship and follow. If you decide to ignore the bear again he will go back to being around, but indifferent.

Also, the bear is not indifferent because he doesn’t love you or want you back, the absence makes him forget you are a part of his tribe just as you didn’t know until recently. If your family information was kept hidden or secret from you tell the bear you’re sorry and didn’t know any better. They are nicer than you think. If you willfully ignored chances to connect or learn about your family then expect to work for it a lil’ more. Nothing you can’t handle 🙂

  55. Last night was my first time seeing a black bear up close & I hit it with my vehicle :-/ it ran away unscathed but appeared to be running away from something unseen in a cemetery.

  56. Last year, I was out on a small hike when I came across a black bear on the trail. I had to follow it to get back to my car. I left him space and he just followed the path. Once at the parking lot he turned approached me, within arm’s reach, sniffed and went on his way. I didn’t think much beyond it being an amazing encounter. Now, I wonder if there was maybe meaning behind his appearance. Either way, it was an experience I will never forget.

  57. In my past dreams the bear is always chasing me and I’m really scared in my dreams. In one dream I was with my oldest child. We saw the bear and start running. My child goes a different direction then I. The bear keeps chasing her and I scream and wake up crying. I have never been able to figure these dreams out. Is the bear my sprit animal?

    1. Dear Cassie

The message from the black bear is to connect within yourself, to connect to all those times in life when you faced situatioms against all odds and rose up. Its about connecting to your inner gold … your inner power that you have demonstrated in your past and have courageously come across.

Stop running about … pause …. and taste the honey and sweetness of your life … of your inner sweetness and inner gold. Once you do so many creative possibilities and people will mèet you and you will once again rise and shine 🙂 with love the Black Bear

  58. I have a bear visit my house many times a day. Black bear… a 🙁 very large black bear. It will not go away. I am also going through the most challenging time of my life. I believe the bear is my spirit animal coming to guide me….

    1. I am going through the exact same thing right now. Every single day the bear comes here only when I’m outside looks at me and then leaves and I’m going through one of the most life-changing hardest times in my life right now as well this is the new guide for me and I’m having hard time understanding what I’m supposed to be learning at this point

    2. I am fascinated by what I am reading here about the bear. All my life I have been drawn to bears, yet I seem to find them very rarely. It’s so much true that I have had them near me and everyone can see them but me. I have only been able to see them near water or fishing, and how special that was for me. I am a Christian, but it was on a Christian Pilgrimage I learned about Mother Bear being my totem. The strength in me that I needed at that time in my life was tremendous. I believe God instilled in me this totem and I am able to weather more storms than before. Abear can handle a rainstorm or snow and suffer great hunger and fatigue to protect and feed her young. Her live is undying. I am glad that God revealed this to me. I often think of Mother Bear and how comforting she must be to her young and yet fierce. Now that I have a teen-ager, I see this in myself. A fierce patient love that nothing can destroy. And hopes all things, endures all things, and believes all things.

    3. The bear is challenging you to get his attention and look him in the eye, (aka the window to the soul)
when you stare into someones soul you can see deep down we are all the same, all connected somehow.
When you can face the bear in the eye (aka face your fear) you will not only have the strength to power through your current situation but will come out wiser knowing you can handle anything the bear represents because you are a part of him.
Remember the bear hibernates until it is strong. The bear knows he needs time to build his confidence and strength, so don’t come out with the strength of the bear without the stamina and confidence to see it to the end. Think about what needs to be said and done, when you are sure of it, do what needs to be done and don’t look back.
Sending good vibes your way and best of luck.

    4. Red Shield Running Wolf

The bear showed up in my yard today and stared at me as well. He was not aggressive at all, but also not afraid of me. I am also going through the most challenging time in my life. Bear stands for courage and strength and signifies powerful healing potential of self, others and Mother Earth.

    5. I had a dream of bears, a family of bears (grizzlies), were on their hind legs in the water. I was swimming very close to them in the sea of the beach near my house. One of them was angered at me. I don’t know why. I saw that the sky was grey and the water a bit cold. Then I got out and went to my parents.
I love the bear as an animal. But what does this dream mean? What is the bear trying to show Me?

  59. I had a bear visit my campsite the other night. It was about maybe 15 to 20 ft away ( which is a very close distance). I made eye contact with it, it gave a small growl then ran away. Every time I camp, there is a bear physically around me. Most of the time I’m asleep, but I’ll hear it growl or it brushes past my tent and wakes me up, this time I was already awake when I saw it. I’ve just recently realized the bear might be one of my guides. A friend put the thought in my head since Everytime I camp there’s a bear. Should I accept that he might be guiding me?

I had a bear and a deer run across my path as I was driving through the Canadian Rockies..in Mount Robson Park, BC. Never had that happen to me before. I believe it to be giving me messages

  61. The bear is one of my spirit animals and I believe the dream description of the bear in this article is correct in maybe some instances, but not in mine…I feel now the bear is a sign in my dreams to have courage and go full force into the object of my desire (which in my dream was protecting the earth and life upon it that the humans were destroying…) I was with a large group of people at the ocean side watching the capture of whales and specifically a mother and twin calves…we observers just watched in awe, not knowing what to do..but from my left side a bear spray forward at full force towards one of the men. The man had out a shotgun pointed at the bears head but that did not deter her, she sprang upon the men and bent his rifle upwards and mauled him to death. The instant that happened the entire crowd cheered which suprised me that other people felt the same way about protecting animals that I do and I was filled with such gratitude for the (majority) of humanity at that moment.. That or the bear tends to symbolize my unconscious fears and motherhood even… My mind is clear and at ease lately, but we all attach different meanings to animals…especially when it is an animal that we connect on a deep level with which for me is bears, whales, and birds.. XD

  62. I had a dream last night i went hiking alone and I was hiking up a mountain and once I reached the top I saw a bear and I was calm and approached the bear and I told him I only wanted to take a picture of him and he told me that was ok and I was surprised that the bear talked to me and the bear told me not to be scared and that he was a native American spirit animal and he was a bear and he told me that this Saturday I was going to find something I was looking for a very long time and I asked him if it was a stuff animal panda and he noded yes and I smiled and sure enough when I woke up that morning I went to a junk shop and I found the stuff animal panda and the guy that works there gave me the stuff animal panda bear for free

  63. I believe my mom’s totem, or one of them at least, is a bear.
I study metaphysics and philosophy, so totems is part of the curriculum. Learning of the bear reminds me very much of her. The Dolphin and Dragonfly also remind me of her. Just as the Hummingbird reminds me of my grandmother.

  64. I had a dream that we were staying in a cabin and found a cub. He was hungry and we fed it. It wouldn’t leave. We tried to take him back into the woods but he’d return. He was adorable but his claws would inadvertently destroy things or cut me.

I have dreamed of wolves and bears since I was a toddler. When there are bears in my dreams someone in my family or close to me dies
The wolves use to scare me as a child but now I feel a kinship with them and am fascinated with them.

  66. I had a wild dream where i was being chased by something or someone . at the very end just a moment before i would have gotten to safety still not knowing if i would make it, i turned into an extremely beautiful, large, powerful bear. I felt as if although part of the bear i was still completely independent and my human self. I immediately with tremendous force heard and saw the bear say “remember love” immediately after he said that the bear just annihilated whatever was chasing me with an insane amount of power and there was a moderate amount in those split seconds emphasis on his claws. Whatever fear i had was totally destroyed thanks to my huge bear friend/self. What could this mean?

  67. One time I had a dream where I was strolling through a pine forest. It had calm lakes, peaceful wind, and majestic mountains. As I was turning around to head back to the tent (the dream started off as me being in the tent), I saw a huge brown bear right in front of me (I couldn’t tell if it was a grizzly or kodiak bear because the dream was a bit faint). It stared directly into my eyes for several seconds, and as I was beginning to get nervous, the bear started to stand straight up on it’s hind legs, and proceeded to stare. I was scared beyond belief, but several moments later, the bear went down on all fours and walked away. When I awoken, I was so confused. It affected me so much that I wanted to start doing major research on bears. I’m not exactly sure on what the dream meant, but it made me feel more confident on challenging things in my life.

  68. Whilst partisipsting in some shamanic drumming I had a vision of a brown bear looking towards me with his paws on a fallen tree along with s owls face iv done some reading about the bear and it seems to be stop on for my current life period could you please try to give me a little more understanding on both the animals together thanks Lauren x 😆

  69. I recently had a tribal massage, during which Ihad a vision of a huge grizzly bear standing on hind legs and growling at an Indiangirl wwhose back was to me and she would look back at me sadly .but Iwas not aafraid, the massus told me I had a great deal of bear healing or strong connection with the bear he was my totem Iwas the bear .iIwould like to get help into the meanings he is here for. Any thoughts?

  70. My dream for about a week has been a Kodiak BrownbBear, even though I was afraid, it seemed to just watch over me and protect, where ever I went, it went, but did not harm me, when time to go to sleep he just laid down outside and just watched me…any insight…

  71. Hi! I’ve been taking a few spirit animal tests and I’ve been seen as “social” & “confident”, but i don’t see me as any of those things. Why is that? Is the tests just wrong? ❓

    1. My guess is that sometimes we attract spirit totem messages into our life for areas we need to develop 😉

(i know this comment is a year old but HOLY CRAP your profile picture is adorable. <33)

  72. In my dream I was moving into an house with a girlfriend. Which is funny cause I’m married. I have a husband. Before I knew I was outside putting my lawnmower away when a small bear cub appeared in a dog kennel along with 2 small dogs. The small dogs were barking at me to alreat me. I felt sad for the small cub as iI turned around to my right. I saw the bid brown mother bear.she didn’t chase me aggressively. Felt that she was just trying to protect her cub. I ended up on top of the kennel the small dogs were in. What do you thinkit might mean. I was nnot scared when I woke up.

  73. I have had lots of bears come to my dreams. All of them mean something to me in life and I know that. It’s something I experienced and it has changed me as a person today. It has guided me through tough times and only comes back to me twice a year and the same time of year. I analyze my dreams about these bears and its always a kermode bear (spirit bear) what does this mean. And I can tell the difference between polar bears and kermode a because ive searched it a lot with the years I’ve had it. I’m just having troubles interpreting all of it. What does it mean.

  74. I just dreamed that 5 bears chased me up a tree
a mother and three cubs climbed the tree beside me and the other circled through the park below me
I was scared but i didn’t climb very high
    they didn’t hurt me
the large numbers certainly caught my attention!

  75. The grizzly bear in my dream was very aggressive. It was angry at me for something and wanted to kill me. I was running away…closing gates to stop it..it tore them down to shreds…into a house and shut the door…it broke the door down. Into a chainlinked enclosed tennis court…it tore down that too…Into a shopping mall with lots of people Christmas shopping and it only went after me..tearing down clothes racks and shelves.. It was roaring mad with spit flying. Right before it got to me..I remembered I could fly…up I flew…just in time as it swiped at my feet. Then it started jumping at me, almost reaching me as I flattened myself to the ceiling. I could not get away from this enraged bear…I didn’t understand what I did to make it so angry that it wanted to kill me….then I woke up.

  76. I recently had a dream me and my boyfriend were walking in the woods and could not figure out what we were smelling just kept saying whats that smell and all the sudden we look up the hill and this bear is running full force at us and then stops in front of me then I wake up. It was the most realistic dream I have ever had. Any insight?

  77. Last night I dreamt that a brown bear kept crossing my path even while I was in a house. I then realized that it wanted to devour me! In that same dream wolves were also prevalent and trying to get to me. None of the animals seemed interested in anyone else in the dream, only me. It was odd to me though that while I was afraid in the dream I did not wake feeling frightened.
    Any thoughts on the meaning(s)?
    😀 Thank you.

    1. I grew up having a dream like this. I can remember at least 3 nights, years apart, where I dreamt my house (up in the woods of nh) was surrounded by brown bears.. I tried running to each window to cover it, running to each door to lock it, and as soon as I would touch the door a bear would charge through. Next thing you know they were all working their way into the house and the bathroom was the only place I could hide to feel safe. This dream has always woken me up because of the fear I felt. And its always made me wonder what it could mean.. I’m ordering the book “The Dreamer’s Dictionary”, if a meaning finds its way to me I will let you know

  78. The bear is my totem at this time in my life. In meditation, I saw a flash of a black bear growling, ready to fight. What might this aggression mean?

    1. If you feel the bear spirit is you then it probably means that either you need to be more aggressive or you are an inner termoil.
bears are almost always only aggressive if there is a need, maybe you have a need.

    1. Hello Katrina; To interpret that in a brief and quick way – I would say that you must integrate wisdom with knowledge, magic and purity in everything you do (right side) The bear on your left is the introspection and exploration of your emotions.

    1. Hello Bertha: Albino or white animals outside of their normal coloration’s are always an emphasis of the message. There is a strong spiritual component to whatever the message the Animal is trying to convey. Pay very close attention to the quotation box when you return to this page.

    2. There is actually a small subspecies of black bears with white coats known as Kermode bears or spirit bears. They’re not albino (they dont have pink eyes for example) but rather the result of a double recessive gene. They are extremely powerful messengers and have great importance to the indigenous peoples where they are found (mostly around British Columbia, Canada). Here’s some basic info:
      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermode_bear

I would also suggest researching what the local legends say about them.
